Our commitment to sustainable manufacturing runs as deep as our respect for nature. It begins with how we source the whole fruit that forms the basis for our products. It continues through an in-house manufacturing process that protects the natural bioactives to provide maximum efficacy. And it finishes with quality fruit powders that are distributed to our customers with care.
A meticulous
manufacturing
process
Having our own manufacturing plant in Auckland, New Zealand, allows us to consistently produce high-quality end products. Beginning with whole fruit purees, our proprietary freeze-drying process protects the bioactive compounds to create fruit powders that are effective at low doses. To uphold our sustainability goals, the purees we use are made with ‘ugly’ fruit that might otherwise be wasted. Soon we’ll have our own puree plant to further enhance our control over product quality.

As a New Zealand-grown award-winning nutraceutical company, Anagenix has always respected the value of nature to health. We have strived to be a ‘good corporate citizen’ by showing respect for the environment, our employees and the New Zealand fruit growing industry. Now we’re going a step further by moving towards the attainment of a globally recognised sustainability accreditation.
In 2022, we appointed Alexandra Heaven as our board advisor for sustainability. She has previously led global sustainability teams for Danone in Paris, helping them to attain B Corp and ESG accreditation. Assisted by our in-house sustainability champion Emma Graham, Alexandra will oversee our journey towards either B Corp certification or an EcoVadis rating. While attaining one of these credentials will take time, our business is already living up to tightly defined sustainability commitments.
Our sustainability pillars
1. Traceable sustainable supply chain
Quality, nutrient-dense whole fruit from environmentally responsible suppliers is the backbone of our business.
Anagenix is fully transparent about the full value chain from product to growers. This traceability will grow in sophistication and depth over the next years, to meet our commitment to trust and transparency with our partners.
Our products are made from New Zealand-grown whole fruits. We make regular site visits to check that our growers are upholding high environmental and social standards on their orchard.
We work with industry partners, such as Natural Health Products NZ, to ensure New Zealand continues to uphold high standards of quality and transparency across the industry.
2. Ugly fruit only
We limit food waste by using as much ‘ugly fruit’ as we can.
Food waste is a significant global issue. One third of all food produced is wasted, which accounts for about 6-8% of human caused greenhouse gases.
A key environmental goal for Angenix is to limit food waste by using ‘ugly fruit’; fruit that is not pretty enough for retail sale, but just perfect for our purposes. This approach helps to reduce food waste. It also ensures the time farmers spend growing and tending the fruit isn’t wasted either.
3. No nutrient left behind
The health of our environment is intimately connected to human health. At Anagenix, we care about both.
Our innovative whole fruit approach ensures that minimal nutrients are lost between orchard and packing. At our manufacturing facility in Auckland we use proprietary freeze drying and powdering processes that preserve bioactive content, so that our products remain effective at a low dose. Every nutraceutical ingredient we produce delivers nutrients in a form that our bodies are naturally designed to receive.
