Anagenix: A Functional Ingredient Supplier Built On Whole-Fruit Science
Formulators building a supplement, functional food or nutraceutical product usually face a tradeoff: ingredients that are easy to source but light on evidence, or ingredients with strong science that are hard to formulate at scale. Anagenix exists to remove that tradeoff. As a New Zealand based functional ingredient supplier, we manufacture a portfolio of branded, whole-fruit ingredients, including Livaux and Feiolix, built on proprietary processing technology, clinical research and a New Zealand supply chain where traceability is being extended across the portfolio. Here is what sits behind that supply relationship, and why formulators choose Anagenix as their nutraceutical ingredient supplier.
One Shared Technology Story: Target Bio-Lock
Every Anagenix powder ingredient starts from the same platform: Target Bio-Lock, our proprietary freeze drying process. Rather than isolating a single active compound, the way many nutraceutical ingredients are made, Target Bio-Lock preserves the fruit’s complete nutritional profile, fibre, polyphenols and micronutrients intact, using low-temperature processing from orchard to finished ingredient.
The numbers behind that process: up to 97% of a fruit’s original nutritional value is retained, bioactive concentration reaches up to 10 times that of fresh fruit, and finished powders retain the fruit’s natural flavour, colour and aroma. Finished powders sit below 0.2 aW in water activity, a real formulation advantage for capsules, sachets, gummies, beverages and functional foods.
It is also where our sustainability story starts. Target Bio-Lock lets us give cosmetically imperfect fruit a high-value use rather than discarding it, and processing close to the orchard, most of our fruit is grown within two hours of our Auckland facility, keeps freshness intact and food miles down. Full technical detail, including comparative data against conventional extraction, is available on our Target Bio-Lock technology page.

Clinical Rigour Across The Portfolio, Not Just One Ingredient
Clinical evidence is not limited to one ingredient in the Anagenix portfolio, it runs across it. Two examples from our active ingredient brands illustrate the depth of that research.
Livaux, our gold kiwifruit prebiotic, produced a significant increase in Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, a keystone gut bacterium linked to digestive comfort and gut barrier integrity, at 600 mg daily in a 28 day randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 85 healthy adults with occasional constipation. A separate 261% increase in butyrate production was observed in advanced gut models. The full study design and outcome measures are set out on Livaux’s science page.
Feiolix, our feijoa-derived metabolic health ingredient, was studied in a 12-week randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial of 39 overweight adults with prediabetes, at 300 mg or 1,150 mg daily. Compared with placebo, both doses resulted in lower HbA1c, improved insulin sensitivity (lower HOMA-IR and fasting insulin), and lower LDL and total cholesterol. Feiolix was well tolerated, with no treatment-related adverse events. The benefits may involve abscisic-acid-driven GLP-1 release. The mechanism research is detailed on Feiolix’s science page.
| Ingredient | Category | Clinical highlight | Dose format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Livaux | Precision prebiotic | Significant increase in F. prausnitzii at 28 days (600 mg, n=85, placebo-controlled) | 600mg powder |
| Feiolix | Metabolic health | Lower HbA1c, HOMA-IR and LDL vs placebo over 12 weeks (300 mg or 1,150 mg, n=39, prediabetes) | 300 to 1150mg powder |
Across the wider portfolio, Anagenix ingredients are supported by more than 30 granted patents, with further applications pending, and full compositional analysis is available to formulating partners on request. That is the standard we hold every ingredient to, whether it already has headline clinical results or is still in trial.

Global Sourcing, Backed By A New Zealand Supply Chain
Anagenix ingredients start in one place: New Zealand. All of our fruit is 100% New Zealand grown, most of it within two hours of our Auckland processing facility, our Bay of Plenty growers are a two hour drive away, our Nelson grown supply a one hour flight, which means fruit is picked ripe, moved quickly and processed while its bioactivity is at its highest.
We maintain direct relationships with our grower network. Traceability is established for part of the portfolio, and we are extending full farm to finished ingredient traceability across the rest. From there, ingredients ship to nutraceutical, supplement and functional food manufacturers worldwide, in powder, puree and concentrate formats suited to capsules, sachets, gummies, beverages and honey blends.
For manufacturers evaluating Anagenix as a supply partner, from minimum order quantities to distribution in a specific region, our distributor network page is the starting point for that conversation.
Sustainability Built Into The Supply Chain, Not Added On
Sourcing 100% of our fruit from New Zealand growers, and turning cosmetically imperfect fruit that would otherwise go to waste into high-value ingredients, is core to how Anagenix operates, not a marketing layer on top of it.
Anagenix completed its first independent EcoVadis sustainability assessment in 2023, covering environmental impact, labour and human rights practices, business ethics and sustainable procurement, and earned a Silver medal. The rating has since risen to Platinum (2025), placing the company in the top 1% of companies assessed globally.
Alongside that rating, more than 95% of our input fruit came from GAP-accredited growers as of 2023, and we are working toward full value chain traceability and 100% renewable packaging sourcing. For formulators and brand owners under increasing pressure to document their own supply chain’s sustainability credentials, that gives Anagenix ingredients a documented, third-party verified starting point rather than a self-reported one. Full detail on our sustainability programme is available on our sustainability page.
Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of company is Anagenix, and who does it supply?
Anagenix is a New Zealand-based functional ingredient supplier that manufactures branded, whole-fruit ingredients, including Livaux and Feiolix, for nutraceutical, supplement and functional food manufacturers worldwide. Anagenix operates business-to-business only and does not sell finished consumer products directly.
What is Target Bio-Lock, and how is it different from standard extraction?
Target Bio-Lock is Anagenix’s proprietary freeze drying platform. Instead of isolating a single compound, it preserves a fruit’s whole nutritional profile using low-temperature processing, retaining up to 97% of a fruit’s original nutritional value and up to 10 times the bioactive concentration of fresh fruit.
What clinical evidence backs Anagenix ingredients?
Evidence varies by ingredient. Livaux produced a significant increase in Faecalibacterium prausnitzii at 600 mg daily in a 28-day placebo-controlled trial of 85 healthy adults with occasional constipation, and in a 12-week randomised, placebo-controlled trial of 39 overweight adults with prediabetes, Feiolix at 300 mg or 1,150 mg daily lowered HbA1c, improved insulin sensitivity and lowered LDL cholesterol compared with placebo. Portfolio-wide, Anagenix ingredients are supported by more than 30 granted patents, with further applications pending, and full compositional analysis is available to formulating partners on request.
What is Anagenix’s sustainability rating?
In 2025, EcoVadis awarded Anagenix a Platinum rating, placing the company in the top 1% of companies assessed globally. As of 2023, more than 95% of Anagenix input fruit came from GAP-accredited growers, with all fruit 100% New Zealand grown.
