The intestinal bacterium Faecalibacterium prausnitzii (F. prau) is vital for maintaining gut flora balance. Why is gold kiwifruit
a valuable supplement ingredient?
Developed in New Zealand, gold kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis) is a highly nutritious superfruit with a unique nutritional profile. It’s rich in vitamin C, dietary fibre, folate, minerals, polyphenols and antioxidants. Smooth, hairless and bronze-coloured skin, gold kiwifruit has a sweet flavour often described as a mix of pineapple and mango.
Compared to green kiwifruit, gold kiwifruit is less acidic and has a slightly different nutritional profile. For example, gold kiwifruit contains more vitamin C and is less acidic. The pectin in gold kiwifruit acts as an excellent prebiotic, supporting the fermentation of good gut bacteria like Faecalibacterium prausnitzii (F. prau).
